Watkins Glen State Park

So Beej and I went to Watkins Glen State Park this past Saturday.  It was a nice place to go visit.  We hiked the Gorge Trail which follows the waterway and had a good time.  It took almost 3 hours walking to the end and back but it was beautiful.  At some spots, you can even walk behind the waterfalls which is a perspective that you don't usually get.  I would highly recommend it to anyone in the area.  There are more things in Watkins Glen than a big old circle track you know...

Wow, i'm a slacker!!!!

I haven't posted anything on this blog in so long!!!!  That's not funny....

Checked a few more items off the list!!!!

Beej and I got quite a bit accomplished this weekend.  Yesterday we went to David's Bridal to look at wedding dresses for Beej and guess what?  You need an appointment to be able to look at any of them.  Well we made an appointment for today and decided to go across the parking lot to the Men's Warehouse.  We were successful there in picking out the men's part of the wedding.  I tried on some tuxedos, vests, ties, shirts etc...  We picked out the tux for me and the groom's men including all of the accessories.  From tie to shoes baby.

Today we went back to David's Bridals and were successful there.  Beej picked out a an absolutely beautiful dress that just fit her perfectly.  She got all the bells and whistles to go with it as well.  from veil to shoes as well.  We also were able to pick out the bridesmaids dresses which I think will look great as well.

We had to go back to the Men's Warehouse to change the vests and ties to match the color that is incorporated into Beej's dress.  All in all, it was an amazing weekend with Beej getting things done.

Labor Day Weekend 2009

Well Beej and I drove down to Mt. Olive, NC from PA to work on getting some wedding venues booked and to look at various vendors.  Everything is working out awesomely today.  It's hard planning a wedding to begin with but we are doing it from out of town.  Beej's sister-in-law Karen has been doing all of the leg work and using her contacts to help us out.  First, we went to see the chapel and reception hall that she had suggested and guess what.  It was perfect!!!  We booked it and paid the deposit on the spot.  The best part is that it's directly accross the street from the hotel.  How sweet is that!!!  Second, we went to the bakery that again Karen suggested and they had what we wanted.  We locked in the date as well and will schedule a consultation.  We also took a look at the Hotel and it is brand new and couldn't be located any better.  I believe our guests will be happy.  We also talked to the caterer and have him booked as well.  We will discuss more of the menu and selections later on but they are ready to go.  We had all of this done by 3:00pm and were able to enjoy a nice dinner with the family.  Tomorrow we have to look at florists and at dj's for some cool tunes.  After this, we will have gotten done what we wanted this weekend and will be able to enjoy the rest of the weekend and have fun.  Sunday we have pre-marital counseling with the Pastor that is going to marry us.  We will have the second half of the counseling on a later date.  This wedding is coming together nicely.

Fairmont Park, Forbidden Drive

Well Beej and I finally decided that it was time to take the bikes off of the paved road and into some trails. Now I have to give it up to Beej as she was not feeling good and wasn't 100%. She still wanted to go biking as she and I are keeping each other motivated to bike and excersize to loose weight. I started doing some research about mountain biking here in PA (Philly area) and WOW, so many trails!!!! Anyways, we decided to go to a trail along the Wisahickon River called Forbiden Drive. I read reviews stating that it was a great beginners and family trail and they were spot on. It is a wide gravel trail going from Blue Mills Road to Lincoln Avenue. In total it is a 10 mile loop. All the riding and stamina building that we've been doing the last two weeks were about to be tested. The ride was great, going to Lincoln Avenue was not too challenging at all. Just some small hills with small grades is all. Now we had two downhills that were pretty big and I knew whe would feel those on the way back. We made it about 3/4 of the way and had to turn around as Beej's sickness was wearing her out. I tell you, those two hills I mentioned earlier pushed me but it felt great. I feel like i'm getting my old biking legs back. I just loved the burn. Beej really pushed her self more then she should've being sick and all. I give her mad props for doing this. I know that she did it more for me then for her that day. That's why I love her so much. I can't wait to go back to the trail and this time we will make it all the way to the end.

We are bike crazy!!!

As most of you know by now, Beej and I bought some mountain bikes and have been riding every single day (for the most part). We feel it's a good way to get in shape for the wedding and better our lives in general. I think that after two weeks of "warming up" we are ready to hit some parks with pave trails and maybe some off-road trails. We will see. Anyways, we will of course let you know of our progress (or lack there of) and whether or not we kill ourselves on these things.
